Photography Contest

Competition

Vintage is not simply a fancy visual effect, it is the expression of our balancing act between our memory, the now and the coming. IEEE SB CCE in collaboration with CSI Student Chapter, IEDC CCE & Code organized a photography contest on 15th December 2022. The theme of the contest was “Vintage”. The very purpose of the contest was to identify the best photographer. The rules and regulation to be followed while clicking the pictures was communicated to the contestants well in advance.

IEEE SB CCE hosted an online meme-making competition on 12th December 2022. The theme was “Tech Meme”. The main objective of this competition was to observe how the world looks like through an Engineer’s eyes. There was an overwhelming response to the contest. There were visible efforts from the participants. The winners were selected solely based on the creativity and effort put into the work.

Cogniz, Your Gateway to Engineering

Engineering graduates are impacting the world unlike any other using their innovation, creativity and a wealth of knowledge. The event was organized for high school students to gain a practical exposure of an engineering college. They were also provided with workshops on Robotics and Canva software. They were allowed to visit different labs inside the college. The school students were delighted with the visit to the college and the exposure they gained.

Donation

Even a small considerate act can amount to great measures for the right ones. Happy and grateful to share that IEEE SB CCE in association with Tavasya, has managed to distribute 200+ meal packages and other food items to Government Medical College hospital, Thrissur, and nearby retirement homes, Snehabhavan and Pratheeksha Bhavan on 7th December 2022. This heart-warming initiative has been successful in many ways, thanks to the timely contributions of the students of CCE in the form of home-cooked meals and other snacks. We would also like to thank the management and staff of CCE for their support and coordination behind this. Once again, we convey our gratitude from the bottom of our hearts for each contribution and support that we had received on your part.

IEEE SB CCE in association with Tavasya has conducted FIFA Quiz competiton for die-hard football lovers. The energy and enthusiasm of the students brightened the competition. A total of 75 students have participated in the competition.

The programme was conducted through offline mode.

The third episode of Spectrum Talk gave great insight one of the newly emerging technology. The Quiz tailing the talk was quite immersive. The event ended with sweet song by one of the students.

Great speeches and articles won’t help people understand, our action will. Throwing Garbage in the bins/dustbins is a good practice and which do not require to convince people verbally only but with some practical examples. People learn more from visualization. Therefore, IEEE SB CCE has contributed dustbins to create awareness that by throwing a single candy wrapper into its right position can safe you and many future lives from many pollutants and hazards.

It’s true. The cloud offers access to data from anywhere, at any time, on any compatible device. This mobility expedites processes, improves collaboration, and empowers employees working remotely. IEEE SB CCE in association with INFORMATYKA 2.0 has specially organized a session on Cloud Computing on 5th November 2022. Mr. Udesh Udayakumar, GCP Infrastructure Engineer was invited as an expert to enlighten the students on the topic. The key point started with discussing very fundamental concept of cloud computing to make the students familiar with the actual insights. The session was very beneficial in current industrial context.

There is a day that hopes to create awareness about the destructive effect of war on people and places, Every Hiroshima day is observed on August 6th promoting peace to the world. So as a part of remembering Hiroshima Day IEEE, SB CCE conducted a simple poster-making competition with the theme of 'We want to grow up not to blow up' Students from different colleges participated in this event. Finally, the poster-making competition was very successful and after the screening and judgments, the winners were finally proclaimed. The winner was Ameeza K U (GEC Kannur) The first runner-up was Aswin Manoj (AJCE Kottayam) and the second runner-up was Susmitha Rajendran (College Of Engineering Thalaserry).

Every day, people send oodles of emojis to one another. We rely on these tiny images to express what we’re feeling when we can’t see or hear who we’re chatting with. Coding Competition

As a part of WiEcompete, 𝑰𝑬𝑬𝑬 𝑾𝑰𝑬 𝑨𝑮𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝑰𝑻𝑪, 𝑹𝑰𝑻 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝑪𝑬 organized 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗭𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔, an online coding competition to employ every nook and corner of the brain. The event had participants from whole over the south India. The participants exhibited great ideas and it was a tight competition. The event got excellent feedback and the event was an overall success.

Workshop on Gesturre control and line follower robotics

“Robotics and other combinations will make the world pretty fantastic compared with today.” -Bill Gates IEEE SB CCE has organized the Gesture Control and Line Follower Workshop on 29th April 2022. The workshop included the basic programming needed for a line follower and Gesture control to the working of high level robots. The participants were able to work on real working robots, which was a great experience. A total of 50 students joined the workshop.

An Annual General Meeting 2022 was conducted on 02.03.2022. The main agenda of the meeting was the release of newsletter, website launch, annual report and introducing the newly elected Exe-com members. The session began with a prayer song by Krishnapriya K Kaimal. Branch Councelor, Mr. Sunil Paul welcomed the gathering and briefed the IEEE journey from its roots. The presidential address was given by the Executive Director, Rev. Fr. John Paliakkara. He emphasized how important is technical knowledge and its implementation from college level. He released the newsletter and acknowledged the editors and designers. The website launch of IEEE SB CCE was done by the Vice principal, Dr. VD John. He appreciated the efforts of the students who made it. Neeraj KS, Ajil Ibrahim and Vishnuprasad got the special mention for their work. Summarizing the events that we did in the last academic year, an annual report was presented by the Chairman, Athul T A. He also introduced the newly elected Exe-com members and conveyed regards. A word of gratitude was delineated by the vice chair of IEEE, Akshadha P Prabhu. The annual general meeting concluded with a small refreshment and photo session.

The inauguration ceremony had Dr. Vishnukumar S, Associate Professor at CUSAT, Vice Chair of IEEE CS Kerala Chapter and Mr. Vivek K C, SRE Leader in the industry as the guest of honour. Vision of the Computer Society was to be the leading provider of technical information, community services, and personalized services to the world’s computing professionals. The IEEE PES SBC of Christ College of Engineering, in collaboration with NITC, CEA, and GECI, organized a virtual industrial visit to Schneider, Bangalore, on November 13, 2021, attracting 323 students. The event aimed to bridge the gap between freshers and industry professionals, offering insights into industrial environments. Schneider Labs showcased prototypes for various applications, demonstrating control systems and software solutions, highlighting the power of automation. Live demos included controllers and real-time application testing, providing valuable exposure. Student feedback was positive, expressing gratitude for the opportunity in the midst of the pandemic. The virtual visit emphasized the relevance of hardware in the digital era, preparing aspiring engineers for Industry 4.0 and underlining the importance of automation across disciplines.

The well known Dr Ruomei LI, Chair, Women in Power, IEEE PES, IEEE Senior Member was the resource person for the session. The inspiring life story of Dr. Ruomei Li have given the woman engineers out there a ray of hope and the survival tricks to overcome the challenges that come across when woman takes up position.

Competitions like Technical paper writing, Powerpoint presentation, Web portfolio making, Debate and Email writing were conducted. Prizes worth 1K was given to the winners as the token of appreciation. Nakate Harika from LBS College of Engineering bagged the prize for Powerpoint presentation. Neha Jasmin from Mar Arthanasius College of Engineering won the prize for Email writing. Karthik Kannan and Albert Sebastian K of Christ College of Engineering bagged the prize for the debate.

Power Electronics Society of IEEE SB CCE in association with IEEE Kerala YP organized a YP talk session on ‘Electric Vehicle Technologies’. The speaker for the session was Mr. Ramakrishnan CS, Engineer from Tata Elxsi. The talk was conducted via Google Meet at 7PM. The session was exclusively for students of Christ College of Engineering. The session covered all the basic topics of Electric Vehicle Technologies like different types of EV’s, about the charging stations and a lot more. A Q&A session was conducted to the end of the meet, where several students got the opportunities to raise their doubts to the resource person regarding the field. It was a real knowledge gaining session which covered all the basics required for the young engineers of our college who are interested in the field of EV technology.

The Welcome address was addressed by Mr.Jeron Johny Chairman of IEEE IES SB Chapter CCE. The Inauguration was done by Prof.Yousef Ibrahim(Vice-president of IEEE IES membership Activities)and the keynote address was stated by Prof.William Dai Coordinator of Student branch chapter IEEE IES. Later, the Presidential address was addressed by Dr.Bijuna Kunju, Chairman of IEEE IA/IE/PELS Kerala chapter. Finally, Felicitation was designated by Rev.Fr.John Paliakara, Executive director of Christ College Of Engineering, Irinjalakuda, Dr.Sajeev John Principal of Christ College Of Engineering Irinjalakuda, Mr. Rajiv T R Advisor Of IEEE IES SB chapter CCE. The Code of ethics was read out by Ms.Angel Stansilaus Vice-chair of IEEE SB chapter CCE. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Rose Mary Sabu Secretary of IEEE IES SB chapter of CCE.

MATLAB & Simulink

MATLAB & Simulink MATLAB and Simulink knowledge is an indispensable skill required for today’s engineer. By understanding the need and importance of this software, the PES Chapter of IEEE SB CCE conducted a 3 days workshop on MATLAB and Simulink under the mentorship of the experts of the field Mr. Harigovind M (Assoc. System Engineer Trainee, TCS) and Dr. M Nandakumar (Professor, Christ College of Engineering, Former HOD, EEE, GEC TCR). The event conducted from September 20, 2021, covered all the major topics from Introduction to MATLAB to Simulation of circuits using Simulink. Students irrespective of their branches participated in the event actively and raised their doubts which was clarified by the resource person. Even though the workshop was an online event, the interaction between the students and mentors made the session live and flawless. About 50 students participated in the event and had given positive feedback on their interest in attending more such workshops. The 3-day workshop officially came to an end on September 22, 2021, at 8:00 PM by opening a window for the students to an entirely new world of simulation for exploration.

Unlock the Future

Talk Session

The Computer Society, IEEE SB Christ College of Engineering organized a session, Unlock the Future on 18-09-2021 at 6 pm. The Session was for IEEE and non-IEEE Members. There were 75 participants present for the meeting. Austin S, the chairperson of the computer society welcomed all the participants to google meet. The vote of thanks was done by Agnel John, the branch advisor of the computer Society. The session was handled by Pratik Mohapatra, Product Manager at MICROSOFT. It was a great session and there were a lot of key points that inspired the participants. The immense enthusiasm among all made the session even more interactive. He also stressed the importance of studying in and out, building connections with people, and developing cognitive skills that will get you to your dream jobs and lead a successful future.

YP Talks

Talk Session

IEEE SBC of Christ College of Engineering, Irinjalakuda in collaboration with IEEE Kerala Young Professionals conducted a YP talk on the topic Student Membership Benefits of IEEE on 16 th September 2021 at 6 pm. The session was handled by Mr. Rony Alex Thomas, SOC Design Engineer at Intel. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Safreen Saleem. Mr. Rony Alex Thomas gave an insight into what IEEE is and various societies under it. He spoke on how student volunteers can benefit from their IEEE membership and explore more in IEEE. He explained what each society under IEEE was meant for. The session gave insights to student volunteers on how can they can improve various skills from IEEE. There were about 100 participants for the session. The session winded up with Ms. Akshadha P Prabhu expressing gratitude to Mr. Rony Alex Thomas for his time and efforts in providing an informative session to the student volunteers.

Quiz series

Quiz

Engineers turn dreams into reality, As a part of National Engineers Day IEEE, IES SBC of CCE Conducted a three-day quiz Series on the topic 'Basic Electronics, technology and industry' on 15th -17th September 2021. The quiz series was exclusively conducted for the CCE ian's to upgrade and explore more knowledge about these topics. On the first day(15/09/2021) nearly 50 participants actively participated in the quiz series on the topic of technology. On the second day(16/09/2021) nearly 40 Participants diligently took part in the quiz on the topic of basic electronics. On the third day(17/09/2021) almost 40 Students were involved in the quiz about the industrial quiz. Each performance was eminent on the leadership board. Later, the winners of the three-day quiz series were Amith Joseph S4 EEE, Nithin Paul Olakkengil S4 EEE, Savio Sabu S4 ME got the First, Second, Third position respectively. The three-day quiz series ended up Successfully with active participation of the students and guidance from the Faculties.

PES inauguration

IEEE Power & Energy Society SB CCE was officially inaugurated on 12th September 2021. The Power and Energy Society provides the world’s largest forum for sharing the latest technological developments in the electric power industry, developing standards and educating members of the industry and the general public. The ceremony was commenced by reciting the code of ethics by Mr. Amalkrishna K U, Vice Chair of IEEE PES SB CCE. A welcome address was delivered by Mr. Franco D Alappat, Chair of IEEE PES SB CCE. An invigorating inaugural address was given by Dr. Thiago Alencar, Chair of IEEE PES CSAC. He discussed the relevance of the Power & Energy Society through his magnificent words. Er. A K Suhair, Chair of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter enlightened about IEEE Power & Energy Society. Chapter, its functions and services it renders to the society. The birth of IEEE PES, the growth of IEEE PES and the activities and achievements of the IEEE PES Kerala section was highlighted by the speaker. On his behalf, a newly elected Executive Committee was launched. Er. Saran K S, SAC of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter shared his views about the benefits of IEEE and the objectives of student members to organize technical events. The ceremony was felicitated by Executive Director Rev. Fr. John Paliakkara, Joint Director Rev. Fr. Joy Payyapilly, Branch Counselor Mr. Sunil Paul, Chapter Advisor Dr. Ravishankar A N, Asst. Prof. Dr. M Nandakumar. Eventually, Ms. Rajeswari P S, Secretary of IEEE PES SB CCE proposed the vote of thanks, thanking the dignitaries, the faculty members and students who took great effort in making the event a grand success. Altogether the IEEE PES SB inaugural ceremony was a resounding success.

Python Debugging

Competition

The IEEE SB of Christ College of Engineering, Irinjalakuda as a part of the Cluster war organized by IEEE Kochi hub conducted a Python Debugging Competition on September 6, 2021, at 6 pm. The competition was conducted through the online platform HackerRank. The competition was conducted between the IEEE clusters under the Kochi hub. The results were announced on September 9, 2021. Nandhna Shaji from RSET, Cluster 4 bagged the first prize followed by Ruben Shibu from AJCE, Cluster 10, and Shan Shaji from AJCE, Cluster 10 with second and third prize respectively. The event was coordinated by Athul Krishna, Ajil Ibrahim, and Neeraj K G.

Competition

As a part of 'Women's Equality Day,' WIE AG of IEEE SB CCE has hosted an event 'EMPOWERO': Caption Writing Contest. In this competition, the participants were instructed to give a suitable caption for the above-given picture. Judgment criteria were based on several factors like novelty, creativity & originality. Plagiarism was strictly banned. Nearly 20 participants participated in the event from different colleges. All the captions which came as an entry via proper channel were posted on the official Instagram page of the IEEE SB CCE. Based on the judgment Tancia Joy of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology was announced as the winner of the competition

What is IEEE?

IEEE Student Branch of Christ College of Engineering Irinjalakuda hosted a live interactive session on What is IEEE and the benefits of IEEE with Mr. Robin Kanattu Thomas, Co-founder of Astreak Innovations and Ex-student representative of IEEE Malabar hub on 28 th of August 2021 at 7 pm. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Jesil Johnson. The session started with Mr. Robin Kanattu Thomas asking any student to volunteer and Aishwarya Abi who first volunteered was given a gift voucher. Later he spoke about his various experiences in IEEE and how they benefitted him. He made the students aware of how they can make use of their membership and explore more in IEEE. He explained what IEEE is and its various societies to all the members. To make the session more interesting, he conducted a quiz in between and a gift voucher was given to the winner Amith Joseph.

Workshop

Each individual requires a special talent and skill to cope with the demand, and that talent was transformed into a platform of opportunity by IEEE SB CCE through the hands-on workshop. A 3 days workshop from 11-13/08/2021 about web development. The workshop was handled and taken by 2 enthusiastic young web app developers Amal Krishna and Christo Paul. Throughout the workshop, helps to explore more knowledge about web hosting tools, Bootstrap, and several programming languages like Javascript, CSS, HTML, Figma(UI/UX), etc. The hands-on workshop was very informative and the active presence of students from the different colleges make the workshop more successful

R Malavika (Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology) and Amalna K Harish (SCMS School of Engineering and Technology) received the second and third prize

A ‘Just A Minute’ competition was organized by IEEE SB of CCE as part of ‘World nature conservation day’ on 28th July on the topic ‘Forest and livelihood: Sustaining people and planet’. The poster designing was done by Vishnuprasad Kalleparambil, write up by Jesil Johnson, link handling by Athul TA and publicity work was done by the link team.
