Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Group (SEDGs) Cell
Objectives
- To protect all the constitutional rights of the SEDGs students.
- To ensure that the HEIs are inclusive, safe, and secure for the SEDGs students.
- To provide socio-emotional and academic support and mentoring through proper counselling and monitoring programmes.
- To ensure proper implementation of orientation and bridge courses for SEDGs students.
- To increase participation of SEDGs students in academic activities via HEI programmes.
- To implement Government policies and various schemes for SEDGs students.
- To develop outreach programmes for SEDGs to access educational opportunities.
- To implement preventive measures and laws against discrimination and atrocities.
- To circulate and monitor UGC and Government guidelines for SEDGs.
- To redress grievances of SEDGs students within 15 days with privacy and dignity.
Functions
- Coordinate with other cells to implement schemes and scholarships.
- Implement orientation, bridge courses, and outreach programmes.
- Provide socio-economic, academic, and psychological support.
- Sensitize all stakeholders on SEDGs issues and inclusion.
- Generate funds (CSR, alumni) for scholarships and fee support.
- Work with IQAC to promote inclusive education policies.
- Act as a 'Single Window' for all SEDGs-related services and grievances.
- Upload and monitor safety and welfare guidelines on HEI portal.
- Promote welfare schemes like coaching for SC/ST/OBC/Minority/PwD students.
- Establish support teams of counsellors, social workers, and faculty.
- Develop skills to enhance employability and personal growth.
- Organize meetings and track progress of SEDGs schemes.
- Assess SEDGs needs and make recommendations.
- Raise awareness among all stakeholders about SEDGs facilities.
- Encourage attitudinal change for SEDGs participation in all activities.
- Hold regular meetings with SEDGs and HEI management to address grievances.
- Ensure all grievances are addressed within 15 days.
- Inform all students during induction about the zero-tolerance discrimination policy.
