Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
Objectives
- To create a safe working environment for women by preventing any act of sexual harassment at the workplace.
- To receive and redress complaints of sexual harassment in a time-bound and fair manner, maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
- To organize awareness programs and workshops to sensitize employees regarding the provisions of the POSH Act and promote gender-sensitive behaviour at the workplace.
- To ensure that the organization complies with all legal provisions related to the prevention of sexual harassment, including reporting and training.
- To recommend to the employer the action to be taken against the respondent if allegations are proved.
Key Functions
- Accept and register complaints of sexual harassment from any woman employee (including faculty, non-teaching staff, and students) through ICC mail internalcomplaint@cce.edu.in.
- Acknowledge receipt and ensure confidentiality of the complainant and the complaint.
- Conduct a fair and impartial inquiry into complaints of sexual harassment within the prescribed time frame and complete inquiry within 90 days.
- Follow the principles of natural justice, ensuring both complainant and respondent are heard, involving witnesses and reviewing evidence if needed.
- After inquiry, submit a report with findings to the employer within 10 days.
- If allegations are proven, recommend appropriate action (disciplinary, compensation, etc.). If found false/malicious, recommend action against the complainant.
- Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the complaint and inquiry process.
- Present an annual report (number of complaints, resolutions, pending cases, actions taken) to the Management.
- Conduct regular sensitization programs and workshops to raise awareness about sexual harassment and the ICC.
